Guilford Center for Children Coastal Watershed/Environmental Education
GFFE is thrilled to announce the recent approval of another grant: the Coastal Watershed. This concept, introduced by Lisa Jones and backed by Guilford Center for Children, teaches the youth of Guilford the importance of the environment. The watershed will consist of:
A watershed model
A rain cloud bottle
Coastal animal sets
Coastal supply kits
Sea life animal packs
A “Save the Ocean” book
A “We Are Water Protectors” book
A “Bird Butterfly Eel” book
Sea monkey ocean zoos
This grant provides a new and fun way of teaching Guilford youth about pollution sources and pollution prevention in coastal areas, like Guilford. The 3-D model will take the children through the steps of how a single piece of trash or spot of oil can impact the environment. A huge thank you and congratulations to Lisa Jones for working so hard on this grant and for partnering with Guilford Fund for Education. We are delighted to have played a role in this remarkable concept and cannot wait to see what the future holds!
Guilford Fund For Education (GFFE) is an all-volunteer non-profit organization that gives Guilford educators and students an avenue to explore, experiment, and bring fresh ideas for educational experiences by funding proposals that fall outside of an organization’s budget.
