Fred Rogers, more commonly known as Mister Rogers from the popular educational children's television series Mister Rogers' Neighborhood, once said, "Play gives children a chance to practice what they are learning". And we couldn't agree with him more! The GFFE is excited to support play based learning at Guilford's Community Nursery School with the Child Led Science Mini Grant.
CNS Preschool Teacher Laura Cruz wants to expand the science curriculum with materials that foster and promote play based learning. Child led lessons require materials that are designed for such exploration and discovery. The mini grant will be able to provide learning tools such as an outdoor water runway and sorting trays, so that students will be able to take the lead and do exactly what they do best: play and learn.
Thank you Ms. Cruz for your dedication to our youngest scientists! With this grant, preschoolers' learning will be supported as they explore and discover the world around them!
