Standing Up for Kids
The Standing Up for Kids grants will allow the purchase of standing desks with a fidget bar so that they may be available in all classrooms for grades 2-4 at Melissa Jones Elementary. While teachers are diligent about incorporating whole-class movement breaks and chunking their day to provide movement opportunities, some students require more movement and struggle with staying actively engaged. Standing desks of this kind allow students to get their movement in while remaining in the classroom and engaged in the learning process. They also help create and strenghten a sense of belonging for all students.

Masks in Motion
This grant will provide funding for two professional arts workshops entitled "Masks in Motion: Commedia dell’Arte and Renaissance Music," to Guilford High School. The goal is to deepen students’ understanding of Italian language, the ancient theatre of Commedia dell'Arte, and performance traditions through active participation in the visual and performing arts. “Masks in Motion” will give Guilford students a hands-on connection between language learning and performing arts, blending movement, live music, and cultural history.

Regulation Station
Students in elementary school often experience big emotions that can impact their ability to stay focused, learn, and maintain positive relationships. This grant will provide funds to create 'Regulation Stations' at A.W. Cox elementary classrooms, expanding upon the 'Mindfulness' curriculum led by Jyl Lozier-Oman, LCSW. Regulation stations will be equipped with bean bag chairs and calming boxes containing developmentally appropriate fidgets and calming tools that help students self-regulate their emotions, manage stress, and remain engaged in learning.

SEL Mini Golf Lab
This grant will be used to launch the The SEL Mini Golf Lab aimed to enhance the physical education program at A.W Cox Elementary School by supporting motor development, cognitive growth, and social skills in a fun, accessible format for all types of learners.

Elementary School Playground Communication Board
Grant funds will be used to install a durable, weather-resistant Augmentative & Alternative Communication (AAC) Board at the Guilford Lakes Elementary playground. The board will feature approximately 50–70 high-frequency “core words” — such as go, stop, help, mine, and play — represented by PECS symbols. The board will also serve as a language-modeling tool for peers and staff, helping all students become more familiar with AAC and fostering a culture of empathy, understanding, and inclusion. By bringing communication supports outdoors, this project helps bridge the gap between structured classroom learning and real-world social interaction.
