Grants Introduction

The Guilford Fund for Education (GFFE) is a non-profit, community-based organization established in 2006. The purpose of the fund is to encourage and support the creation of innovative projects that will enrich the education and growth of all students in Guilford. GFFE accomplishes its mission through its grants programs.

Through its General Grants program GFFE provides funds to finance educational opportunities outside the scope of the regular operating budget of the agency with which applicant is affiliated. These grants target areas such as enrichment of curriculum and instruction in the classroom, in the school, or district-wide; school or district-wide enhancement of professional development and teacher learning; student leadership; school and community collaboration; and community participation in all aspects of education.

In addition to its General Grants program, the GFFE is proud to establish for 2010 the Apple Grant for Professional Development which will finance professional development opportunities for individual Guilford Public School teachers outside the scope of the district's regular operating budget. The Apple Grant for Professional Development is intended to facilitate an individual teacher's growth in knowledge of his/her subject or expertise in instructional/learning strategies. It is expected that the teacher's professional development experience will have a positive impact on student learning.

There are separate applications and different submission deadlines for General Grants and for the Apple Grant for Professional Development. Please refer to the specific grant program for more details.

The GFFE Grants Committee is a diverse group of community members representing business, professional, and educational fields. The committee will judge each grant proposal on its own merits. If you have questions about the form or procedures, please contact the Grant Co-Chairs for additional information.
