General Grant Program Guidelines and Notes

Please read the following guidelines thoroughly if you would like to seek funding from GFFE's General Grant program.

General Information

In its General Grant Program GFFE is pleased to fund projects that will facilitate and reward innovative approaches to learning and development of Guilford students, in and out of the Guilford Public Schools. GFFE offers three types of grants within this program.

  • IMAGINE Grants are designed to impact Guilford students in one or more classrooms, a school, or district-wide. They may address broader school/district issues such as technology, curriculum development, differentiated instruction, professional development, student growth and development, etc. GFFE looks for projects that can be both replicated and sustained after the close of the grant project period.
  • STUDENT ACTION Grants are designed for student initiated projects that promote learning, leadership and/or community service. These projects must have an agency staff member as an advisor.
  • COMMUNITY PARTNER Grants are designed for government or non profit agencies and target projects that bring schools, families and community organizations together.

Eligibility for the General Grant Program

Teachers, staff members, administrators (full or part time), non-profit community organizations or community residents (in collaboration with any of the above) are eligible to apply for funding through our General Grant Program. Grant requests should represent creative, innovative ideas that fall outside the ordinary public school budget yet promise to augment the curriculum in a meaningful way. Grants should enhance, not duplicate, the standard public school curriculum.

In order to maximize the impact of its funds, the GFFE will limit its grant awards to those applications which comply with the following:

  • The General Grant Program application must be submitted on-line.
  • Proposals must include a hard copy of the cover page with all authorizing signatures in order to be considered.
  • The applicant must be available to meet with the Grants Committee to discuss the proposal if necessary.
  • The successful applicant must agree to submit, within three months of the project's end, a summary report that includes a budget report.

Funding for the General Grant Program

General grant awards range from $250 to $3000. GFFE will consider requests greater than $3000; please contact the Grant Co-Chairs for details. The Guilford Fund for Education will fund as many qualifying projects as its resources allow.

Support from GFFE

A member of the GFFE Grants committee will be assigned to serve as "liaison" to each applicant.
