The Guilford Fund for Education (GFFE) will hold its 6th annual Adult Spelling Bee on Friday, March 30th from 7:00 p.m.-9:30 p.m. at the Guilford High School Auditorium. The evening promises to be full of excitement and surprises, as teams comprised of 3 adults battle it out to take home the coveted "Best of the Hive" trophy. We are thrilled to have Darren Kramer of WTNH News Channel 8 back with us again this year as the emcee for the evening.
While the Bee will follow the Scripps-Howard Spelling Bee rules, the main purpose of the event is an evening of community fun in celebration of education. There will be prizes awarded in various categories (best name, best costume, most spirited) and plenty of opportunity for audience participation.
The GFFE is actively recruiting teams for the Bee. Teams can represent workplaces, such as banks, real estate brokers, retail stores, doctors' and dentists' offices, and non-profit community groups; town employees such as Police, Fire, Park and Rec; governing boards such Selectmen, Finance, Education; neighborhoods, PTO's, youth coaches, teachers, administrators, middle school and high school students, or just a group of adult friends! The team entry (contribution) fee is $225 ($200 early bee entry fee if registered before February 29, 2012). All proceeds go to support the work of the Guilford Fund for Education.
If spelling is not your passion, but supporting education is, BEE a Swarm Sponsor by making a donation to the Spelling Bee to support any teams who wish to enter but need help raising the entry fee. Then come and watch the excitement on March 30th! Audience admission to the BEE is free.
