1st Annual GFFE Duck Race - 9/26/10

We’ve been waiting for you!
Welcome to the IntroDucktion of the 1st annual GFFE Duck Race.

Duck Race, you ask?

YES!! But not the feather covered, air breathing, quack quacking type… we’re talking little, cute, yellow and rubber…. The kind your kids love to play with in the bathtub.

duck intro 1

On Sunday, September 26 at 2:30 pm sharp, thousands of yellow rubber duckies will be resting in their holding pen on the West River in front of the Olmsted Outlook on River Street.  They’ll be waiting patiently for our Duck Master to lift the starting gate to let them float freely, 400 feet downriver. They will be collected one by one as they pass through a specially designed collection chute. Oh, we forgot to tell you, each duck is numbered, and it has been “adopted” by someone like you. If your duck places first in the race, then you will win our fabulous 1st prize of $1000! But don’t despair if your duck just didn’t have the paddle power to place first, we have lots and lots of prizes to give out so you will have lots and lots of chances to win. Click here to see our amazing prize list!

There’s also something really important we need to mention before you we lose you to our other duck race pages. This event could not have taken place if we didn’t have a location for it…. we must give a special thank-you to JJ Sullivan Oil Co who is graciously allowing us to use their entire property for the Duck Race Festival and the Guilford Land Conservation Trust (GLCT) for the use of the Olmsted Outlook for the race.  Now, that’s community spirit at its best!
